Why it exists
YouTube browsing is a gamble: click a thumbnail, lose your scroll position, discover the video was not worth it, navigate back, repeat.
Hover previews exist, but they are muted, low-quality teasers. We wanted the real player, floating beside the thumbnail.
What it does
- Hover over any thumbnail and a floating player opens beside it, using a real /watch surface - actual playback, not a preview reel.
- Resume-on-rehover picks up where you left off, and configurable delays plus per-page controls keep it from firing when you do not want it.
Under the hood
- A TypeScript Chrome extension that works with YouTube's real pages rather than against them - which is what makes actual playback and resume possible.
Why it matters
The difference between a gimmick and a tool is a hundred small UX decisions: delays, resume behaviour, per-page control. That obsession with interaction detail is what we bring to every product interface we ship.
